Papua || Not deterred by criticism from the community for disrupting children's activities to go to school, the OPM gang again launched its action by burning down the Okbab State Junior High School building, located in Borban Village, Okbab District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Prov. Papua Mountains, Saturday (13/7/2024) at approximately Pkl. 11.30 Wit.
When confirmed, Kapendam XVII / Cenderawasih Lieutenant Colonel Inf Candra Kurniawan, S.E., M.M. regretted the burning of the school building.
"It is unfortunate that the junior high school building was burned down, this incident was condemned by the community because the school building is used by children to study on a daily basis," explained Kapendam.
"The action of burning schools is repeated and indeed OPM wants children not to go to school. This OPM action destroys the future of children, whose enthusiasm and enthusiasm for learning is very high to go to school," added Candra.
Security forces are currently pursuing the OPM gang that burned down the school, because after burning it then fled.
